Dr. Silvana Charison

Hi, my name is Dr. Silvana Charison. I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California, Maryland, and Virginia. I hold a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, and I specialize in individual, marital, couples and relationship Therapy. I maintain a private practice in Newport Beach California and in Maryland.

With over 15 years- experience as a therapist, and as a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Trauma, attachment theory, and Family Systems Therapy. I'm certified in Trauma Focus CBT and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I use an eclectic theoretical framework to achieve the best results for you and your unique situation. I believe that my clients are the experts on their lives, and I work collaboratively with you to build on your strength and attain the personal growth you are committed to accomplish. With Compassion and understanding, I help everyone restore balance, serenity, and peace so you are free to be the best version of you.

In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist, I have worked extensively with public safety personnel providing treatment for trauma and PTSD. I’m bilingual (English and Spanish) and I am well versed as a multicultural counselor.

When I’m not at work, I am at home with my family and giving back to my community. I enjoy taking long walks on the beach with my husband, playing outdoor sports with my two children, and practicing Yoga with my friends. I serve as a volunteer for orphan children and as a parent volunteer at my children's school.

My Approach

I implement effective psychotherapy methods in a safe environment to instill self-understanding among clients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the client and therapist alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results. I would be honor to guide you in your journey of healing.
